The Wilson Parks and Recreation Department’s ages 9-10 all-star boys basketball team finished second in the North Carolina Parks and Recreation’s Statewide Athletic Committee (SWAC) sectional tournament March 11 in Greenville and advanced to the state tournament.in Knightdale. Another Wilson Parks and Rec all-star team played in the ages 11-12 tournament at Recreation Park Community Center in Wilson but did not advance.

The 9-10 all-stars, coached by Phil Dickens and Roland Loftin, defeated teams from Onslow County and Duplin County East before losing to Greenville. After defeating Farmville in the semifinals. Wilson lost to Greenville again in the championship game. Wilson was bounced from the state tourney by losses to Hamlet and Tarboro.

In the ages 11-12 sectional, Wilson topped Selma and Bladen County before losses to Duplin County and Spring Lake ended the run. Duplin County won the sectional tournament.
