FAYETTEVILLE — The Wilson Parks and Recreation Department’s Champions in Motion cheerleading program sent four teams to the Champions In Motion championship competition over the weekend at the Crown Coliseum and one returned home with a state title.
The Division 2 Guardians claimed the crown in the large division for their first state title. Team members are Adaysnn Cooper, Madison James, Yamila Hernandez, Caitlin Hurd, Kristina Dunston. BR: Bristol Jernigan, Itzel Hernandez, Kameryn Davender, Jaylah Batts, Chloe Norwak and A’Mayah Batts.
Placing second out of nine teams in the large division were the Division 4 Gladiators, who earned an invitation to the NYAA Cheerleading Nationals in San Antonio, Texas. The Gladiators members are Aniya Williams, Jericka Wallace, Kenna Gilbert, Briya Bullock, Alexis Fleming, Layla Lindsey, Yadira Saavedra, Janesha Isom. BR: Zaniyah Lindsey, Maggie Mincey, Aimey Gullien, Aislinn Chambers, Alexis Johnson, Kalani Evans and Alisa Landa.
The Division 3 Warriors took third out of 11 teams in the large division. Those team members are JaShona Carmichael, Simone Cole, Alexi Whitehead, Chloe Farmer, Kaleigh Best. BR: Valerie Chavez, Abbey Sharp, Brooklyn Thoms, Jamierra Bryant, Jahleyah Mercer, Miliani Rodriguez and Alicia Rodriguez.
The Division I Conquerors finished fourth in the 12-team X-large division. Team members are Isabella Mayo, Aubree Teele, Harlowe Wilson, Journey Clark, TaKari Highsmith, Isabella Wilson, Choyce Harris, Jayla Jefferson BR: Deja Lucas, Caitlyn Kueny, Kynslee Shearin, Heaven Parrish, Cassidy Tyson, Seven Ruffin, JemaJae Brown-Wood and Livia Sexton.
More than 140 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia participated.
