Wilson Track and Field quintet earns points at Durham meet

DURHAM — Five members of the Wilson Recreation Department’s track and field team picked up points in their respective events at the club’s first meet of the summer, the Durham Striders Invitational on May 25.

Jeremiah Parker placed second in the Boys Ages 7-8 shot put with a toss of 13 feet, 10.5 inches, only 4.5 inches less than the winning toss of 14-3. Parker also competed in the Boys Ages 7-8 100-meter dash.

Shimar Williams finished fifth in the Boys Ages 7-8 100 dash in 15.56 seconds in a field of 52 runners.

Peyton Williams placed seventh out of 21 runners in the Boys Ages 11-12 800 run in 2:50.31 while Aaron Hicks was eighth out of 14 runners in the Boys Ages 7-8 800 run in 3:16.36.

Aliha Habana finished seventh in the Women Ages 17-18 100 dash in 16.41.

Other Wilson competitors who finished in the top half of their events were Aceshon Jefferson in the Boys Ages 9-10 100 dash (12th of 61, 14.83); Delarin Finch in the Boys Ages 9-10 100 dash (16th of 61, 14.94) and Jordan Chalablee in the Boys Ages 7-8 400 dash (18th of 49, 1:26.49).

Also competing for Wilson in the meet were Isiah Chalablee (Boys Ages 9-10 100); Joseph King (Boys Ages 9-10 100, shot put); Conner Bennett (Boys Ages 9-10 100, shot put); Mireici Mariche (Girls Ages 11-12 100); Shimauri Williams (Girls Ages 11-12 100); Isreal Taylor (Boys Ages 11-12 100, 800); Jaydon Canady (Boys Ages 11-12 100); Malachi Taylor (Boys Ages 11-12 100); Messiah Lavender (Girls Ages 13-14 100); Abby Griswold (Girls Ages 13-14 100); Aiden Bennett (Boys Ages 11-12 800) and Trip Bennett (Boys Ages 13-14 800).
