Wilson professional boxer Kelvin King is back in waiting mode for his return to the ring.
Originally scheduled to fight Thursday night in Durham as part of Christy Martin Promotions’ “Bull City Beatdown,” the card was canceled April 30 after three fights were called off due to injuries. King’s manager and promoter, Gardner Payne, said via email that his fighter was not among the injured.
King, who remains unbeaten as a professional at 5-0-1 with four KOs, did not have a known opponent at the time of cancellation. The 24-year-old hasn’t fought since Feb. 23, where he scored a unanimous decision over Andre Baker (10-51-3) in Charlotte.
King, who trains in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is in the process of moving down to junior welterweight at 140 pounds. He began his pro career in November of 2017 at 154 pounds in the super welterweight division.
