Huldah Pridgen Hart's loved ones didn't let the COVID-19 pandemic dampen their enthusiasm for celebrating her 101st birthday.
Instead of throwing a party, relatives and friends held a festive parade for the centenarian on Saturday ahead of her Tuesday birthday. Twenty cars took part in the procession as the guest of honor observed from the driveway of her Wilson County home outside Elm City.
Hart was born May 19, 1919, in Elm City to Lily Duke and Thomas Walter Pridgen, the second-oldest of eight children. Hart's sister, 97-year-old Dora Jane Pridgen Joyner, rode on a float in Saturday's parade.
