Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Reece Nelson, Fike High

Fike High senior Reece Nelson is the Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Reece played four sports at Fike but was twice named to the 3-A Big East Conference all-conference in volleyball. She was proclaimed team MVP this past fall.

She played varsity soccer all four years and was a member of Fike’s first girls lacrosse team this year. Reece also swam for the Lady Demons.

The daughter of Emily and Tom Nelson of Wilson, Reece has a 4.125 GPA and is ranked 38th in her senior class while taking honors and Advanced Placement courses.

She is the Fike Student Booster Club president and a huddle leader for Fike’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Reece also is in National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.

She has served as a volunteer for Wilson Education Partnership, Special Olympics and as youth indoor soccer coach for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department, for which she has also worked part-time.

Reece has also worked part-time at Dick’s Hot Dog Stand and for Williams Day Camp.

She plans to attend Appalachian State University.
