George Carlton Johnson, 91, of Wilson, passed away Monday. His service will be at held at 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4151 Salem Road, Oxford. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate.
George retired in 1978 from the North Carolina DMV License and Theft Bureau as a sergeant with 25 years of service. He was a devoted UNC fan and an avid golfer at Willow Springs Country Club.
The family will receive friends from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
George is survived by his sister, Betty Johnson Rutledge of Wilson; and his nephew, Marty Ray Johnson, and wife, Cathy, of Wilson and George Daniel Johnson, and wife, Mary of Wilson; great-niece, Megan Lamm, and husband, Shaun; great-nephew, Tyler Johnson, and fiancé, Carolina Arizpe; and family friend, Bruce Crews, and wife, Mildred, of Granville County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Fishel Johnson.
