Paintings by Karen Rose will be featured at the Eyes on Main Street Goldsboro Gallery from Nov. 4-28.
Rose has been a painter for more than 30 years in New York City, San Francisco and Raleigh. Most recently, she has been painting a series of landscapes on both sides of the Mexican border, with the notion that landscapes transcend borders. Her identity and heritage straddle these places, as the product of a Mexican family that emigrated to California during the Mexican Revolution and a Scots/Irish San Francisco family.
A canceled trip to the Mojave Desert during the pandemic led her to use film stills of movies shot in Mexico, Southern California, Arizona and Utah as source material for digital, watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings.
The gallery is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Fridays from noon to 6 p.m.
For an appointment email firstname.lastname@example.org with a 24-hour notice.
The gallery is located at 126 -128 Goldsboro St. South, Wilson.
