ASHEBORO — Oscar Talmadge Flowers Jr, 76, formerly of Sims, passed away on March 6, 2020, in Greensboro, after a six-month battle with cancer.
Oscar, known as Tam, was born in Wilson to Margaret and the late Oscar Talmadge Sr. on Dec. 11, 1943. He graduated from Rock Ridge High School in 1962. He went on to work with Amtrak, AMR (American Airlines), Ogden Air and TACAir.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Lillian Jones Flowers of the home; daughters, Rebecca Ann of San Diego, California, and Sarah Jane of Watertown, New York; son, Kenneth Thomas (Jamie) of Durham; stepchildren, Anthony, Jennifer, Daniel and Noah; grandchildren, Andrew Ryan Flowers and Olivia Jane Lowery; sister, Susan O’Connor (George); brother, Gary Flowers (Cecilia), both of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his fur babies, Izzy and Diesel.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial donations may be made to Brower’s Wesleyan Church or an organization of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of those in Asheboro and Greensboro that made his final days comfortable.
Funeral service will be held at Brower’s Wesleyan Church, 1734 Mack Road, Asheboro, at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, with Pastor Bryant Madren officiating. Internment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro. Viewing will be private.
