The Singers Studio and The Arts Council of Wilson will present a livestream event from the proscenium of the Edna Boykin Cultural Center on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m.
This event, performed by Singers Studio students and alumni, is a showcase of musical theater songs both classic and new. Performances are planned with songs from “Hamilton,” “Once On This Island,” “Bring It On,” “Avenue Q,” “Quicked,” “Godspell” and many more.
This showcase is an opportunity to experience the talent in Wilson and support The Arts Council of Wilson during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic and while audiences cannot physically gather to enjoy the arts.
The Singer’s Studio created this event to give an opportunity for performance as well as a chance to give back to the hub of quality arts experiences in Wilson, The Arts Council of Wilson.
The event will be emceed by David Winstead and Emma Beneck of the Singer Studio. Tune into a night of great music, fun and philanthropy right from the comfort of your own home.
Since March 12, the Arts Council of Wilson has lost $95,000 in expected income due the effects of COVID-19 and the inability to host live audiences.
“It has been trying and challenging times for us all as we prioritize the health safety of our beloved community.
"We are so grateful for the Singers Studio and our performing arts community coming together for this event to help us continue to serve our community during these unique times,” said Cathy Hardison, executive director of the Arts Council of Wilson.
“This act illustrates that the performing artists in Wilson see value in our organization’s work and will use their skills and talents to help us financially survive this pandemic. It is truly a beautiful sentiment and provides added meaning and drive to our work.”
