If you have an opportunity, say a special prayer of comfort for the Wilson family who lost their loved earlier this week as a result of COVID-19.

In addition, say a special prayer of hope and strength for all the families that are dealing with someone in their family who has contracted this virus.

Now more than ever, we need to work together for a common cause — defeating COVID-19.

The following information is the daily update for Friday, April 3, 2020. Today’s update is brief.

Wilson County has 21 positive cases with 9 people who have recovered and one person who has passed. It is imperative that we continue to practice preventive methods in order to stop the spread of this virus.

Wilson family, take this weekend and decide within yourself that you are going to protect yourself, your family and your neighbor.

There is NOTHING more valuable than you or your family’s good health and NOTHING so important that you should be willing to risk you or your family’s life. Decide this weekend to follow the executive order that was put in place by our governor and the preventive precautions that have been expressed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Stay home unless you are an essential worker or NEEDING to go to pharmacy or grocery store.

Maintain at least a 6-foot distance from other individuals.

Wash your hands using soap and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as possible, or use hand sanitizer.

Regularly clean any high-touch surfaces.

Wilson family, please take this virus seriously. No one is immune. We must protect ourselves, which will protect others.

Social distancing is a must! #StayHome.

It is imperative that WE ALL adhere to the executive order that was put in place by our state government. It is imperative that WE ALL adhere to “Stay at Home” and social distancing.

Understand, the most valuable asset to the Wilson city government is the citizens of Wilson. Our law enforcement officers will ensure our citizens are safe by enforcing the laws of the executive order. In addition, LARGE RETAILERS, YOU ARE NOT EXEMPT. Protect our citizens to the maximum extent possible, which is your obligation. Do not put the value of products above the value of human life.

Thank you, Pastor Tom Watkins, pastor of First Presbyterian, for leading our city in prayer Friday morning.

If you were not able to see the prayer, it can be seen on Channel 8 Greenlight and Spectrum. It can also be seen on my Facebook page.
