Senior Mayelly Oliveros has been a steady presence in the middle of the lineup for the North Johnston High girls tennis team to open 2019, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
In helping the Lady Panthers to a 2-1 record last week, Mayelly posted a 4-1 record at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles combined.
Versus Rosewood, Mayelly posted a 6-4, 2-6, 10-2 win in her match at No. 4 singles and teamed with junior Ashley Bunn for an 8-6 conquest in the No. 3 doubles spot.
Against Princeton, Mayelly breezed to an 8-1 win at No. 4 singles and secured an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 doubles slot.
The daughter of Maria Galindo of Kenly, Mayelly has a 3.5 GPA and is enrolled in the Career & College Promise program through Johnston Community College.
Mayelly, a midfielder for the Lady Panthers soccer team in the spring, is the president of North Johnston’s DECA club and is a member of First Priority of Johnston County.
