A cold, damp wind is likely to blow throughout The Wilson Times area Saturday and Saturday night.

Coming from the north and northeast, gusts could reach 30 mph during the daytime with steady winds between 15 and 20. Combined with an 80% chance of rain and temperatures topping out in the mid-40s, wind chill temperatures will stay around the freezing mark. While the steady wind will drop to 10 to 15 mph and gusts to around 20 overnight Saturday, temperatures in the upper 30s are likely to result in a wind chill in the upper 20s.

The culprit is a very slow-moving coastal low strengthening off the southern North Carolina coast.

Sunday is expected to show improvement. Temperatures will recover some, to around 50, and the north wind will eventually drop to below 10 mph by late afternoon. Rain chances, at the same time, go below 20%.

Monday and Tuesday will show a continued slow improvement in temperatures, though they will stay below average.
